Needing A Spot

Hi Ladies, I need each of you who are still working on and posting about your hexagon quilts to do a roll call for me and let me know that you are still interested in staying on the blog. We have a waiting list of ladies who would like to be a part of this blog as well. I will be going back through the blog and checking to see who has been posting and how recent. This helps us keep this blog moving and up in the forefront of those who are steadily working and posting here. If you are willing to give up your spot for someone on the waiting list please let me know. If we have not heard from you in over six months then we will assume that you are no longer interested in posting to this blog about your projects. It will also allow those on the waiting list to become a part of this wonderful group. I will leave this open for the next two weeks and then I will start the process of adding new members. Thank you ladies for helping us to keep this blog moving forward with all the great hexagon quilts.

Introducing Wendy..

Hello girls... just popping in to say hi again and I see there is activity happening. This is great!

Today, I'm writing to let you know that Wendy has kindly offered to oversee the Great Hexagon blogs - I'll still be here, but in the background.

Wendy is a member here and I thought I'd ask here a few questions as a means of getting to know her a little better :)
This is what I asked.

Q1: When did you fall in love with hexies and what was your first hexie project?

I fell in love with hexagons about 12 yrs ago. My mom had an elderly neighbor who quilted all the time and she called me over one weekend to see a quilt she had just finished piecing. It was a grandmothers flower garden and was king size. It was the most beautiful quilt ever. No two flowers used the same fabric and the pathway was the most beautiful emerald green. When she finished quilting it she had me over for another show and tell. The quilt was so beautifully done that I knew I would have to make one one day.

Q2:What hexie project are you working on now?

At the moment I have three long term hexie project's going. A king size grandmothers flower garden using one inch hexagons. A full size in progress using I'm a Ginger Monkey's pattern for her Hexi MF quilt. I hope this one will be finished after the holidays so that I can begin to quilt it. The third project is not hexagons but 60 degree diamonds that will also be a king sized quilt. I consider these to be slow works in progress, meaning that I work on them when I have the time with no rush to be finished. It keeps me sane that way. I hate feeling as though I have to rush to get a project completed. I have also recently started a Lucy Boston POTC which will be another slwip. I have made smaller projects such as two mini quilts, table runner, and several pin cushions with hexagons.

Q3: What part of the world are you in?

I live in the US in the deep south in Alabama. The mountains are beautiful here and there is plenty to do and see. Right now we are in the middle of fall and the hills and valleys are so beautiful with the colors of fall. It does get super hot in the summer and the humidity is like having a wet blanket thrown over you, but it is a beautiful state to live in if you like mountains, valleys and wooded areas.

Q4: Would you tell us something random about yourself that you'd love to share?

I will be married 26yrs in Dec. of this year and have three children, one of which is married with children.
Something random...I paint with oils as well as acrylics, not many people know this, as usually cloth is my medium. When we lived in Texas I painted murals on all the kids bedroom walls to reflect what they loved at the time. I come from a very long line of artistic women. I am also a fourth generation quilter. I am currently teaching myself to knit and am enjoying the process.
So great to read about you Wendy and to get to know you a little better.
Please make Wendy feel very welcome girls - she is keen to get us all motivated again here on our blogs.
We're going to do a roll call again as a means of tidying up our membership here, to make room for others who do want to join in - so please leave a comment on this thread to say Welcome and to say that you are still interested.  This would be really great!!

Just a reminder too - These groups are not sales based.  They are about sharing friendships and common interests.  By all means share what you are doing and point us to your blog with your news, as long as it is hexie related.  Thankyou.
I trust that you are enjoying the last days of Spring and Autumn wherever you are :)

Hello girls from Robyn!

Hello girls... it is I... long lost Robyn :)

I do hope this post finds you all well.
I have of course been away for far too long, with activities and health and I'm just popping in to say a BIG hello to you..
..and to let you know I'm going to be doing some tidying up around here... on both of our blogs.

Please comment here, if you have any changes such as updating your blog or email address if either have changed or anything else that is relevant to our groups here.
Please also use this post as a roll when and if you're able, so that we can tidy up our membership here.

What have I been doing?
In brief, my photography and art have been keeping me well occupied, along with work and not much sewing time at all for me apart from the odd bit of crochet or hand stitching like our hexies, now and then.
I'm also dealing with a back injury these days, that keeps me from sitting lots, so much less time at the computer for me.
My blog address has changed and I'll be updating it to my new personal blog - Robyn was here!

Thank you, thank you and do take care.
Hope to hear from you,
Robyn xx
